Resurrected Life: Safe & Secure

Series: Resurrected Life

Summary

Safe and Secure

Main Idea: We have great and precious promises as children of God.

Intro: The Necessity of Security

  • We can’t flourish without a sense of safety.

  • Security shapes performance, creativity, and emotional well-being.

  • Romans 8 is God's assurance that His children are safe and secure.

I. Promise #1: No Condemnation in Christ

Text: Romans 8:1–4

  • "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

  • We are no longer under judgment but set free in Christ.

  • Our feelings may waver, but God's declaration stands.

    • 1 John 3:19-20 — God is greater than our hearts.

  • Christ took our condemnation and gave us righteousness.

    • Romans 5:17-19

Reflection:

  • Are you walking in the Spirit or still in the flesh?

  • Pray for freedom and assurance in Christ.

II. Promise #2: Adoption into God’s Family

Text: Romans 8:14–17

  • We are not just saved—we are adopted sons and daughters.

  • "Abba! Father!" — we approach God with confidence, not fear.

  • We are heirs with Christ, seated in heavenly places.

    • Ephesians 2:4–7

Reflection:

  • Are you living like a beloved child of God or like a spiritual orphan?

  • Pray for deeper joy in your adoption.

III. Promise #3: Groaning Will Turn to Glory

Text: Romans 8:18–22

  • Suffering is real, but incomparable to the coming glory.

  • All creation groans, awaiting redemption.

  • Jesus promises a place with Him — John 14:1–3

  • One day, every tear will be wiped away — Revelation 21:1–4

Reflection:

  • Where are you groaning today?

  • Fix your eyes on the hope and glory to come.

IV. Promise #4: Salvation is Secure in God’s Hands

Text: Romans 8:31–39

  • If God is for us, who can be against us?

  • Christ died, rose, intercedes, and holds us.

  • Nothing can separate us from God's love—no circumstance, no power.

  • Our perseverance is God’s work in us, not our effort alone.

Reflection:

  • Do you trust that your salvation is secure?

  • Rest in God’s unchanging love and power.

Conclusion:

Romans 8 proclaims four promises for those in Christ:

  1. No condemnation

  2. Adoption as God’s children

  3. Groaning gives way to glory

  4. Our salvation is secure

These are for followers of Jesus—rest easy knowing you are held by capable hands.
