Conduits of Grace
Series: Acts: Church on the Move
Summary
Sermon Notes
Introduction
-
Question: Am I being a conduit of grace? Or are there things in my life that are keeping the grace of God from pouring out of me?
Scripture Reading: Acts 3:1–10
Peter and John encounter a lame man at the Beautiful Gate, offering him not silver or gold, but healing in the name of Jesus Christ. The man is healed, leaps, and praises God—causing all the people to be filled with wonder and amazement.
Main Idea
God wants to use you as conduits of His grace to the people you encounter.
1. Be Devoted to Prayer (v.1)
-
Peter and John made it a habit to stop and pray at the temple at 3:00 in the afternoon.
-
They went where the people were, combining prayer with mission.
-
Three reminders about prayer:
-
Jesus modeled it (Matthew 6:9–13).
-
The Spirit helps us (Romans 8:26).
-
Prayer teaches dependence on God (Philippians 4:6–7).

2. Be Intentional with Your Time (vv.2–6)
-
The lame man’s desperate situation: disabled from birth, dependent on others, begging daily.
-
Peter and John saw him many times, but this time they stopped—intentionality matters.
-
Busy lives didn’t distract them from kingdom opportunities.
-
Paul: “Seek the things above… set your minds on things above” (Colossians 3:1–4).
-
What opportunities are we missing because we are distracted by the world?
3. Be Sure God Gets the Glory (vv.7–10)
-
Peter and John healed the man, but the focus was not on them.
-
Two miracles:
-
His disability was healed.
-
He instantly walked and leaped without therapy.
-
-
Peter didn’t draw attention to himself or stage an event—the glory belonged to God.
-
When lives are changed, the only response is praise.
-
Everything we do should be for Christ and His glory, because He has given us everything we need for life and godliness.
Conclusion
-
What needs to change in your life so that the “gutters” are cleared and God’s grace can flow through you?
-
Spend time in prayer, asking God to make you a conduit of His grace.
