Are you interested in being connected in a Missional Community? We have several groups with openings that would be glad to welcome you. Most groups meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings of the month.
KEY VERSE: “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people.” Acts 2:46, 47
Why should you join a Missional Community?
Here are four of the most important benefits of these groups:
- Friendship- You experience fellowship, community and a sense of family. (I John 1:7)
- Acceptance and Encouragement- You have some people who really care about you. Galatians 6:2)
- Prayer Support- You are prayed for during and between meetings. (I Timothy 2:1)
- Accountability- You have a “safe” place to talk about your struggles in the Christian life and someone to hold you accountable. (Proverbs 27:17)
“The average church member knows sixty-seven people in the congregation, whether the church has 200 or 2,000 attending. A member does not have to know everyone in the church in order to feel like it’s their church, but he or she does have to know someone.” Rick Warren- The Purpose-Driven Church

At Berean, we believe that every person who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ has a ministry gift from the Lord and a responsibility to use that gift for the good of the body of Christ. We refute societies notion that older is less valuable and instead believe that the more God teaches through life’s lessons, the more we have to share.
The fifty-plus age group in the body of Christ is increasing rapidly as the “Boomer-bulge” moves along. This group has tremendous opportunity to impact our Berean family, our community and our world for Jesus Christ. With lessening family responsibilities, and early retirement, more and more adults are finding themselves well positioned to pursue ministry opportunities. We desire to develop or increase “ministry mentality” as opposed to the “rocking chair mentality.” Our national conference adopted the name “2nd Half for Him” as the title for our older adult ministries. With this name comes the mind-set that the longer we have walked with the Lord the better prepared we have become to serve Him.
There are not only many opportunities to serve at Berean but a chance to grow spiritually through age-related Bible studies, worship directed for the Senior adult and chances for social interaction that give the people a chance to evangelize.
Every Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. – a Bible study fellowship is held in the Chapel. Although not restricted to older adults, most of those who attend are retired and are looking for a place to study God’s Word, have fellowship, and prayer, plus gifted teaching on various topics during this fellowship. Teachers rotate.
Healing Hearts (Grief Share)
The purpose of “Healing Hearts” is to minister the love and comfort of God to those of our community who have experienced the heartache of the death of a loved one. We trust through fellowship, shared meals, testimonies, teaching and, of course, encouragement from God’s Word, the Lord will minister to the needs of His people. “Healing Hearts” meets on Wednesdays in Room #215 (church Library) at 3:00 p.m. Please join us or if you need more information call the church office at 419.756.3300 and ask for Pastor Jim Berry or Sonya Lieb.

Women’s Discipleship Groups
Find out more about Discipleship Groups and hear testimonies on our Facebook page
We believe that discipleship is one of the most important elements of a women’s ministry. Our desire is to equip and encourage women to use Scripture to learn from and live like Jesus daily. The goals of D-Groups are (1) to grow women spiritually and (2) to replicate disciples and disciple-makers. That means as women learn how to make discipleship a way of life, they will, in turn, teach other women how to do the same. D-Groups will be the main Women’s Ministry activity on Wednesdays evenings and Thursday mornings at Berean. However, there will also be D-Groups meeting on other days and times. Groups will run from September through May. Participants will be in the same D-Group from the fall to the spring. Have more questions about D-Groups? Click here to read Q&A’s About Women’s Ministry D-Groups. Interested in joining a group? Email Pastor Lentrail Abston at firstname.lastname@example.org.
