Pastor Nate Meiers – Senior Pastor
I grew up in a Roman Catholic home. At the age of 19 in a Sunday morning worship service I turned from depending on my own good works and trusted completely in the perfect life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to justify me before God. I was baptized that summer (1988).
The Campus Crusade for Christ chapter at the University of Virginia where I was a student trained me how to engage in daily personal devotions, how to lead Bible studies and how to share my faith with others. My first experience in children’s ministry was through an invitation by a pretty young lady (who later became my wife). The summer following my conversion I helped with Kids Church and also began teaching 2nd grade boys Sunday school. And I haven’t turned away since!
I received a BA in English in 1990 and a Masters of Divinity degree with a concentration in Christian Education from Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina in 1995.
I began serving as the children’s pastor of Berean Baptist Church in 1995 and began the role of senior pastor on Sunday, September 21, 2014. I married Laura in 1990 and have two children, Matthias born in 1995 and Madeline born in 1998. I earned a fifth degree black belt in Shotokan karate and Shurite Kempo in 2008. I enjoy reading historical theology and adventure novels, doing crossword puzzles and listening to movie soundtracks.
